Modern Workplace Baseline
A modern workplace is more than rolling out Microsoft 365. The setup determines whether employees can truly work with it, whether security is in order, and whether the environment is ready for Copilot. Digital Survival Company designs a Modern Workplace Baseline that prevents that, based on our DIGITAL365 concept.

Why a Modern Workplace Baseline?
A Modern Workplace Baseline is the technical baseline design of a Microsoft 365 workplace: how identity and access are set up, how devices are managed, how collaboration is organized, and how security is safeguarded. It's the foundation on which every employee, every location, and every new application is connected consistently.
Without that baseline, an environment quickly grows unevenly: one department gets broader rights than another, onboarding works differently every time, and security settings go missing unnoticed. The baseline defines that upfront and is immediately the foundation for Microsoft 365 Copilot, because data classification and access rights are already right from the start.
Our Modern Workplace Baseline approach
- 1
Identity and access as the starting point
We design the identity layer based on Microsoft Entra ID: single sign-on, role-based access, conditional access, and MFA as standard for every user and every device.
- 2
Device management via Intune
We design device management via Microsoft Intune, including automatic rollout via Windows Autopilot, so every new device immediately meets the security and configuration standard.
- 3
Structuring collaboration
We design the setup of Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive, including naming conventions, access policy, and lifecycle management, so the environment stays manageable as the organization grows.
- 4
Setting up the security baseline
We translate the security requirements into a concrete baseline for Microsoft Defender, Purview, and Sentinel, aligned with the organization's sector and compliance obligations, including immutable backups outside the Microsoft environment (tenant) as protection against ransomware and accidental data loss.
- 5
Incorporating Copilot readiness
We assess and safeguard data classification and access rights as part of the baseline design, so the workplace is ready for Copilot without having to clean up afterward.
What does a Modern Workplace Baseline deliver?
Secure working
A workplace that works the same secure way for every employee, regardless of device or location.
Secure by design
Security that's baked into the design: conditional access, MFA, zero trust, and role-based access as standard.
Solid foundation
A solid foundation for Microsoft 365 Copilot, with data classification and governance already factored into the setup.
Less management burden
Less management burden because settings are consistent and deviations are flagged automatically.

FAQ
We already use Microsoft 365. Does a baseline design still make sense?
Yes, often especially then. Environments that have grown organically regularly contain inconsistencies in access rights, missing security settings, or an onboarding process that works differently every time. A baseline brings that in line without completely rebuilding the existing environment.
What's the difference between a baseline design and a full workplace implementation?
The baseline design is the Design phase: the technical blueprint that determines how the workplace is set up. The implementation is the Build phase, where we actually roll out the design. We can take care of both or deliver only the design as input for an internal team.
Is the baseline also suitable as preparation for Microsoft 365 Copilot?
Yes, that's one of the explicit goals. Data classification, access rights, and governance are incorporated into the design as prerequisites for Copilot, so you can deploy the AI application safely without having to fix things afterward.
