Containerization

Traditional applications are tied to the environment they run on. That makes them fragile, slow to scale and hard to maintain. Containerization breaks this pattern: applications are packaged with everything they need and run consistently on any cloud, any cluster and any environment.

Why Containerization?

Containers have become the standard for cloud-native applications, and not without reason. They make applications portable, releases faster and scalability predictable. Kubernetes, the leading platform for container orchestration (automatically scheduling, distributing and managing containers), ensures containers are automatically scheduled, scaled and recovered without manual intervention.

For organisations that want to develop faster, reduce dependence on specific infrastructure, or prepare their applications for AI integrations, containerization is a logical and sustainable step.

Our approach

  1. 1

    Applicatiebeoordeling

We assess which applications are suitable for containerization and in what order, based on architecture, dependencies and the value it delivers.

  2. 2

    Containerisatie van applicaties

We package applications into containers with standardised images, including configuration, environment variables and secrets management (securely storing and managing passwords and keys), so every environment runs identically.

  3. 3

    Kubernetes-cluster inrichten, inclusief observability

We set up a Kubernetes cluster on Azure Kubernetes Service or AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service, with monitoring, logging, tracing (following a request through the system), automatic scaling and role-based access as standard, so you always have insight into how containers are performing and incidents can be traced quickly.

  4. 4

    CI/CD-pipeline opzetten

We connect containerization to an automated CI/CD pipeline (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment: automatically building, testing and rolling out new versions), so new versions are built, tested and deployed safely and quickly without manual steps.

  5. 5

    Beveiliging en netwerk

We set up network policies, image scanning (checking container images for vulnerabilities) and secrets management, so containers run securely and vulnerabilities are flagged early in the process.

What does containerization deliver?

Consistent environments

Applications that run consistently in every environment, with no surprises when moving between test, staging and production.

Faster, safer releases

Faster and safer releases through automated CI/CD pipelines that eliminate manual steps.

Automatic scalability

Automatic scalability that adapts to demand, without manual intervention during peak moments.

Flexibility and observability

Less dependence on specific infrastructure for greater platform choice, with observability that flags and resolves problems faster.

FAQ

  • Is containerization suitable for all applications?

Containerization isn't the best step for every application. Monolithic applications (applications built as one large, tightly interwoven whole) or applications with tight couplings to specific infrastructure sometimes need modernisation first. We assess per application whether containerization makes sense right away or whether other steps are needed first.

  • Do our developers need to already know Kubernetes?

No. We take on the setup and management of the Kubernetes cluster. Where relevant, we provide knowledge transfer to the development team, so they can independently build and deploy containers via the CI/CD pipeline.

  • Do you also take over management afterwards?

Yes. If desired, we also handle ongoing management: monitoring and managing the Kubernetes cluster and container environment 24/7. The team that builds it knows the environment and also takes over its management.
